BACKGROUND
Julia was born and raised in Washington D.C. with her family deeply involved in the visual and performing arts society. With a BFA in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts, NYC, Julia followed her passion for Art and Design and worked in Venice, Italy with Dr. Phillip Rylands, Director of The Peggy Guggenheim, on a prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship. Back in New York City, she completed her Interior Design studies at FIT and worked as an Interior Designer and Project Manager for top Architects such as The Office Of Thierry Despont and Ronne Fisher on high profile projects in NY, The Hamptons, Miami and LA. Julia’s family developed many Hotels in Miami and from an early age she loved exploring the world of art and architecture.
At the rockwellgroup she produced notable projects and brands such as The W Hotel (NYC Flagship), the Tribeca Grill, Payard and the Mohegan Sun Casino and Resort.
At Jeffrey Beers International, Julia staffed and managed the Interior Design Department and created The Rum Jungle & China Grille at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas as well as Calle Ocho, The Schwab Company Offices and Schwab Residence, NYC.
COLLABORATIONS
With several successful restaurant design projects under her belt and her love of food & wine, it is no wonder why Julia Roth enjoys working directly with notable Chefs such as Charlie Palmer, Ed Brown and Gray Kunz to help recognize their own design visions. Other restaurant projects include The Pearl and The Boarding House in Nantucket Island, Massachusetts in conjunction with Chris Smith of CMS Architecture + Design PC.
Julia frequently consults with husband, Chef Joel Oberlander, on state of the art professional kitchens, wine expo design programs and high concept restaurants.
Recent collaborations with Barnes Coy Architects seamlessly blend dramatic, contemporary, site-specific architecture with painterly interiors for very unique, sophisticated clients and their lifestyles.
